Roses are red, violets are blue, red hearts and candy just for you!

Valentine’s day is known for beautiful bouquets of roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. However, when it comes to love, we all know nothing is simple! Here are a few flower do’s and don’ts for Valentine’s, to help you give the perfect gift to your special someone.

Order On Time

Take it from us, Valentine’s is a florist’s number one day of business – it can get extremely eventful! To ensure deliveries go out, shops sometimes have to stop taking orders before February 14. So, make sure you’re not unlucky in love by ordering a beautiful bouquet ahead of time.

Order Local

Support local businesses by ordering from local florists! If you buy online from wholesalers that offer the product ‘direct from the grower’, your flowers could arrive in a box, unprocessed and unready! Order from your local florist to ensure the flowers are professionally arranged and fresh.

Send Flowers to Mum

We here at Lucy’s are big believers in showing love to our mums. In fact, Lucy’s is named after our head florist’s mum! So go ahead and give her a bouquet on Saint Valentines. Unwrapping a gift from you is sure to make your mum’s day a little brighter and show her who’s no. 1 in your heart.

Don’t Fear Your Florist!

It can be daunting trying to describe exactly what it is you are looking for to your florist, especially if you don’t know. Don’t fret! A professional florist, much like a bartender or doctor, has heard it all. Just calmly explain what you want and, if you don’t know where to start, our post ‘Be My Valentine’ explains the meaning behind traditional Valentine’s day gifts.

Don’t Forget a Card

Beautiful flowers plus a beautiful card are guaranteed to melt your loved one’s heart. Plan ahead what you want to say, a poem or haiku never goes astray 😉 See what we did there?

Remember, don’t be afraid to contact us with any questions about February 14. We’re here to help!
