That little catchphrase has become our team motto. We don't want to compromise on quality or value. Amazing flowers at affordable prices? Yes, it can be done!
Lucy first opened a small florist in the relatively quiet suburb of Summer Hill in 1985. After many years of owning a Chinese/Indonesian restaurant she decided to explore her creative side and undertook studies in floristry and design both in Sydney and abroad.
Summer Hill became one of Sydney's hidden (or not so hidden) gems, with its friendly village atmosphere, original Victorian and Federation architecture and just minutes away from Sydney's CBD. Word about Lucy's Florist also quickly spread and soon locals and Sydneysiders from far and wider travelled to Lucy's little shop for the freshest and most affordable flowers around!
Within 10 years, she outgrew her original location so she moved to larger premises across the road from the original shop, where she has been for the past 17 years. The florist is open 7 days a week up until 6:30pm most days and is right near the train station. We have a steady stream of regular customers, passing trade, corporate accounts and event/weddings. Lucy and the team often work late into the night preparing flowers for weddings, orders and funerals the next day.
Our full time and part time staff have accumulated a total of 97 years in the industry, and counting. Lucy's adult children are also involved in the family business, from the branding and website, to getting up at 5am to go to the flower markets. Flowers are in our blood!
As we have been in business for over twenty five years, we feel like we have grown up with our customers and a lot of our success in the past has been due to their loyalty and word of mouth support. We love our regulars who come in every weekend and stop for a chat, as well as the nervous young teenager buying a wrist corsage for the first time for his Year 10 Formal. We are also privileged to be there for our customers in times of sadness such as illness or the loss of a family member. We get a special thrill when we get an order for a “baby girl basket” to be sent to a young family for whom we did the wedding flowers years earlier.
Lucy's Florist has been one of Sydney's favourite florists for over twenty five years and we hope to still be selling and designing beautiful flowers for many years to come!
